Cobots meet in Madrid

Robotics is one of the top priority cooperation sectors defined by the Spanish High Council on Scientific Research and the Embassy of Switzerland in Spain and Andorra. In line with it, on 6 October 2021 the Embassy with the support of the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, SERI, as well as the Spanish High Council for Scientific Research, organized the 3rd Spanish-Swiss Innovation Night under the theme “Quo vadis, cobot?”

The five panelists were:

  • Prof. Dr. Claudio Rossi – Centre of Automatisation and Robotics - High Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) (Spain)
  • Mr. Jose Javier Lainez – MINSAIT Indra (Spain)
  • Mr. Sergio Martín – ABB (Spain and Switzerland)
  • Prof. Santiago Martínez de la Casa – University Carlos III (Spain)
  • Prof. Dario Floreano – EPFL – NCCR Robotics (Switzerland).

A debate with the audience moderated by Ms. Susana Mañueco from the Spanish Foundation COTEC followed the panels.

The discussions focused on bio-inspired, collaborative and humanoid robotics and drones.

Experts and researchers from academia, institutions and the private sector, as well as government representatives, students and press, together with three cobots - GOFA, TEO and TIAGO- , composed the audience.

This event provided a platform to highlight Spanish and Swiss achievements in robotics as well as promoting both countries as leaders in the field.

As global networks are becoming more and more important, platforms that can facilitate personal connections with potential partners are increasingly significant. The Spanish-Swiss Innovation Night in Madrid was the ideal occasion to show that Swissnex is an excellent platform to promote Swiss and Spanish relations in defined sectors.

In continuance, the 4th Spanish-Swiss Innovation Night edition will be organized in November 2022 under the theme “Energy efficiency.”
