Italian-Swiss scientific conference: The return of the wolf and the future of large predators in Europe

In recent years, numerous studies have been devoted to examining the increase in the wolf population on the Italian peninsula and the return of the wolf to the Alps. In order to share experiences and results about national and cross-border research, on 30 September 2021, the Fondazione Bioparco di Roma and the Swiss Embassy in Italy organized a scientific conference in Rome, with leading Swiss and Italian experts in the field.

Authorities opened the conference and specialist contributions, divided in three parts, followed.

The first part, titled The call of the forest, focused on the ever-increasing diffusion of the large predator in Italy and in Switzerland, with particular attention to the issue of hybridization between wolves and dogs. The second part, Educate to conserve, was dedicated to raising public awareness about this topic.

The conference closed with the round table: Man, wolves and dogs: a possible future.
