Memorandum of Understanding on ERI between Switzerland and Denmark
On March 20, 2024, Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin and Danish Minister for Higher Education and Science, Christina Egelund, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Copenhagen aimed at enhancing collaboration between universities, researchers, innovation stakeholders, and funding bodies from both countries. This agreement reaffirms Denmark's and Switzerland’s shared commitment to further strengthening their already close and diverse relationship. The MoU focuses on key areas including quantum sciences and technologies, life sciences, climate and sustainability, energy, information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, materials science and engineering, space, and the humanities and social sciences. The signing followed a joint scientific committee meeting between the two countries.
To ensure the MoU is implemented with concrete, meaningful actions that deliver tangible outcomes, a so called “activities tracker” has been established to monitor ongoing initiatives and events. This tracker is regularly reviewed and updated in discussions between the Ministries and Embassies. Several initiatives and events have already been successfully implemented in 2024, with many more planned for a hopefully impactful 2025.
