Viva Technology 2024: Swiss Innovation In The Word of Sports Ahead of the Olympics
Switzerland was represented with a record number of startups at the 2024 edition of Viva Technology. No less than 28 startups, companies, and Swiss innovation players showcased their technological expertise at the swisstech pavilion during this major tech event, which took place at Paris Expo-Porte de Versailles from May 22 to 25.
The swisstech pavilion placed particular emphasis on sportech. Technology has profoundly influenced the sports domain over the years, opening up new perspectives for athletes, coaches, supporters, and the sports industry in general. From data analytics to smart equipment and virtual reality, it has revolutionized training and athletic performance. Switzerland, particularly the city of Lausanne and its region—home to the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee and about 40 sports federations—has long been one of the most fertile grounds for innovation in this field.
In addition to sports-related innovations, the swisstech pavilion hosted around fifteen Swiss startups in various sectors, including artificial intelligence, green transition, health, finance, and robotics.
Presentations of the Tech4Eva and Tech4Regeneration initiatives also took place, highlighting Switzerland’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge solutions in femtech and sustainability.
To further strengthen ties and promote the Swiss innovation ecosystem, a dinner was held at the Swiss Ambassador’s residence. The event brought together key players in the Swiss sportech ecosystem, including EPFL, the French National Research Agency, the French Ministry of Research, Innovation and Higher Education as well as several startup founders.
This sixth participation of swisstech at Viva Technology also reflected the privileged partnership between Switzerland and France in terms of trade, investment, and industrial development.
